Vertical Angles

Congruent mean when a angle has the same measurement. You know when you have and vertical angle because they are right across from each other and they are congruent. A quadrilateral is a  shape with 4 side and only 4 side no more no less. If i only know one angle in my intersecting quadrilateral yes i can find all the other angle because it has to equal 360 when you add all together. If i have an quadrilateral an they give me on side and that one side is 130 i can see that the other side are not going big. Next i can see one side is a right angle so the other side is 90 so now i have two side and 130+90=220. Then i subtract 220-180=40 so then 40 is the other side now we have three side. 220+40=260. Last you subtract 360-260=100 so 100 is the other side now we have four side so we found all the sides.

Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean Theorem formula is a^2+b^2=c^2 you can only use it on a right triangle. We can apply the Pythagorean Theorem in real life. If i want to get in my room from the bathroom i could go left then turn right, or i can go diagonal and get there faster. We can identify the hypotenuse in a right triangle because it is the longest side and it is across from the right angle. The Pythagorean Theorem can not hold a non-right triangle. If we were only provided with information containing one leg and the hypotenuse of the triangle, and they tell you to find the other leg you have to find. First you would have to write the formula a^2+b^2=c^2 then you plug in 6^2+b^2=10^2.Next you would square what you plug in then you would have 36+b^2=100. Then you subtract 36 on both side of the equal sign and you would have b^2=64. Last you have to dived 2/64 and you get 8 so b=8 that’s how you find the other leg.

Moving Variable

Moving one variable term to the other side of the equal sign you have to do the same thing you do one side of the equal sign to the other side. if we had the problem 16j=12-4j we would add 4j on both sides of the equal sign.Like this 16j+4j=12-4j+4j and then you would have 20j=12. The relationship between subtraction and addition is that they are inverse operation. What we do on one side of the equal sign you have to do on the other side so that you can keep your scale balance.

Laws of Exponents part 2

The law of exponent is when you multiply an exponent with the same variable as it base such as v^2 * v^3. The product of the expression is v^2 +3=v^5. When you divide exponent with the same variable its base such as n^7/n^3, the quotient of the expression is n^7-3. which makes the answer n^4. So do you see that in law of exponents when you are multiply u have to have the same variable and the exponent you have add. When you divide in the laws of exponents you have to have the same exponent and then you subtract the exponents.

Laws of Exponents part 1

we can expand variable with a exponent because if we have x^3 you expand it x*x*x an you get x^3. The exponent of y is one because there is one of what y stands for. x times x is x^2. The reason why it not just x is because if you have one apple that is a if you have two apples it is a^2. If you have an exponent it is telling you how many of the variable you have. I have been noticing a patten.

Integral Exponents

To square a number means to multiply a number by itself two times. To cube a number is to multiply a number by it self three times. The exponent relate telling you how many of the base you have.

journal entry 3

We can not simplify and expression that does not have like terms. x^2y and xy^2 are not like terms because the exponents are not in the same place. xy is not the same as xyz we can not combine them because they are not like term. The power of m^7 is 7. The base is m. A negative base is a real number. If the base is x the negative base is -x.
